Enjoyed by many and secured by our very own Cam Boyd.
Steamboat Springs got a taste of victory last week with a special visit from the Stanley Cup. Former NHL goaltender from the Tampa Bay Lightning and two-time Stanley Cup champion Curtis McElhinney brought the Stanley Cup to Steamboat Springs on Thursday, Oct. 27.
The cup began its grand appearance on a Steamboat public school tour, followed by a public showing at Howelsen Ice Rink, and concluded with a photo featuring all Steamboat Springs youth hockey players.
Cam Boyd, Broker, and Leader of The Boyd Team, played a significant role as a Stanley Cup Security Guard at the Ice Rink.
“It is really cool and inspiring for the kids to see the Stanley Cup,” Cam Boyd said. “It’s not every day you get to touch professional sports’ oldest and most desired trophy.”
Cam has coached the Peewee hockey groups at the rink for 15+ years, plays on the adult hockey league year-round, and recently joined the Steamboat Springs Youth Hockey Association Board (SSYHA.)
SSYHA is a membership-only, non-profit corporation in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The association is dedicated to ensuring each child has a high-quality, developmental experience full of fun that will make them passionate about the game for a lifetime!
