This week is ‘Favorite Winter Activity in Steamboat’

Shelly Wu – Skiing at Howelsen Hill. It’s such a historic part of Steamboat, and the perfect place to teach young kids to ski. It is so much easier than the big resort. You can get the kids ready in the lodge, grab a snack, and get to the slopes quite easily. If you have a large group, you can rent your own warming hut for a small fee. Plus, they just installed a new, faster chair, so it is even easier to get a few laps in.

Cam Boyd – Skiing at Steamboat Resort. Closets on a good powder morning is my favorite run. The trick to Closets is to study the fall lines. Head down for about 30 seconds and then ski to the right to an amazing open meadow. From there, I head right again into the trees and down a different line towards Storm Peak. This section of Closets is one of my favorite lines at Steamboat Resort. Steep tree chutes that twist and turn through the woods always put a smile on my face.

Ben Berend – Playing hockey at the Howelsen outdoor rink, skiing Sunshine liftline in March, Skinning to the Quarry and Gondola after work. Winter Carnival weekend is something I always look forward to as well.

Josh Cook – Sitting quietly on a snowy morning or evening. The peace and quiet always put me at ease. With so much going on in life, it’s nice to sit back and give thanks that I live in such a beautiful place.

Alexa Struss – Morning walks on the mountain on a blue sky day. I live on the mountain so walking my dog up to the ski area on a sunny winter day is a day-maker.
